You've got to start somewhere...

If you have somehow stumbled across me and my new website, I would like to say a very warm ‘welcome’. This is my first blog post… and whilst I am still trying to get to grips with this platform myself, I hope it helps you to get to know a little more about me and my practice.

I think it’s fair to say that our worlds all changed a little in March, as lockdown forced many of us to ‘stay at home’. For me, this was the perfect opportunity to really get stuck into my art again, after neglecting it for the past few years. It wasn’t long before I had completely taken over the dining room and have been painting ever since.

To be able to paint with no real intention and just ‘play’ with paint again has been so enjoyable. I have always admired abstract and impressionist art but have never seriously given it a good go myself… it really isn’t as simple as it may seem. I started off small with the materials I already had, using up some old sketchbooks and paint along with whatever else I had lying around. As I continue to explore, I’m hoping to start scaling up my work and hoping to become a lot more free and expressive in the way I paint. Thankfully, the beauty of creative work is there is always room for learning, explorations and improvement.. the process is usually the most enjoyable part!

Lockdown has had many negatives, but for me, this has been such a creative time and I am truly grateful for that. I look forward sharing this new journey with you.
